VFT wishes everyone a Happy Aniridia Day! This special day falls on June 21, the Summer Solstice, because the brightness and position of the sun significantly affects the lives of people with aniridia.
VFT is thankful for its Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) because we know we are stronger when we work together . In honor of Aniridia Day, the PFAC shared a list of some of their favorite aniridia-related tools, resources and products:
Julbo Sunglasses: Great comfortable sunglasses for light-sensitive babies and kids. The glasses have adjustable bands that keep them in place while providing comfort.
Light-Brite Touch: Wonderful upgrade to a classic toy! This Light Brite has easy-to-push buttons rather than pegs, and allows the user to create and play in vibrant, high-contrast colors.
Baby Banz Sunglasses: These worked great for us when my daughter was an infant, before prescription glasses. They stayed on her face well!
Eye Patches: Just the right amount of adhesive and correct sizing for my 3 and 4 year old, and we could even cut them slightly for a better fit!
“Digital Reader” Online Book Subscription: Gives children who are learning to read (best for Kindergarten through 2nd grade) access to high quality books they can easily zoom in and out with. To get the subscription, you need to purchase a student membership.
Nano (Flicker) Eyeglasses: They have transition lenses but also the option for sunglasses clips which we love! Very durable, too.
Aniridic Family Facebook Group: Excellent resource and network to connect with others with Aniridia or parents, family, members…etc.
