The Vision For Tomorrow Foundation is excited to announce a new crowdsourced map of U.S.-based eye care professionals to empower the aniridia and low vision community.
One of the most frequently asked questions from families and patients is where they can find ophthalmologists familiar with treating aniridia and related eye conditions.
“We wanted to create an easy-to-access tool for families looking for care that hasn’t existed before today,” said Grayson Chinn, VFT Vice President. “The map is exciting because it grows as the community populates it.”
This free resource gives patients a way to share knowledge with others about where to find nearby centers of excellence or health care providers more familiar with the challenges associated with aniridia or albinism.
The map is easy to use and is intended to identify doctors with specific expertise with aniridia-related issues. To add an eye care professional with whom you or others have had a positive experience, use the crowdsourcing form and fill out the required fields to be added to the map. To search for a doctor, use the filters related to location and specific expertise areas using filters on the map page.
“Our hope is this map gives families a starting place to navigate care from people that know it best – patients and families,” said Chinn. “And if successful, we can expand it more globally.”
